Due to its wonderful quiet and rural character, Conanicut Island is ideal for pedaling. 

Bikers can leisurely discover the whole island, as even the main roads are lightly traveled.  They will enjoy pleasant views of the ocean, riding alongside historic properties and vast open spaces.

Here are some of ‘not to be missed’ sights and stops: heading to the north part of the island, on North Rd,  is the Jamestown Windmill, built in 1787 and nearby is the working and historical Watson Farm, set on a 265 acre site. (see Hiking).  To the south of the island are several old forts, such as Fort Wetherill.
