Maritime Simulation Institute

Maritime Simulation Institute

Established in 1974, this training and simulation center conducts maritime training, research, and port development studies. They were the first maritime training organization in the USA to use ship simulators to train ship masters, mates, and pilots.
The Newport Center houses three Full Mission Bridge Simulators, a Bridge Wing or Docking Simulator, a Radar/ARPA lab, and an ECDIS lab. The four simulators are capable of operating separately or fully interactively. They offer a wide range of courses with full support facilities and the center is managed by Captain Ed Lynch.
