Ted Hood is without question a man of many talents – successful racing skipper, sailmaker, boat builder, mast builder and last but not least, yacht designer. Since 1959, when he launched his first design, his creations have excelled in both racing and cruising some of the most remote regions of the world. In fact, over the years his designs have been at the top of nearly every major ocean race or local regatta, and more recently several impressive sailing yachts over 130ft have been launched. Since 1990, Ted has also been designing motor yachts – starting with the Little Harbor Whisperjet series of fast express yachts. His current designs include a line of ocean going Expedition yachts from 60ft-125ft and a new line of fast Coastal Trawlers in 52, 62 and 72ft. models. The Expedition and fast Coastal Trawlers all offer joystick steering and excellent fuel efficiency. Hood’s current line of Motor Sailers are offered in 50, 58 and 68ft. models can operate at speeds faster than the average trawler as well as sailing faster than sailboats of the same size- features that provide owners with the best of both worlds in one boat. In addition to his current line of yachts, Ted’s design team is capable and ready to design a custom yacht to suit your needs.
