Often called “The Jewel of the Maine Coast” and  “One of America’s most beautiful seaside villages”, Camden is truly a picture-perfect New England village nestled along the west side of Penobscot Bay, Maine’s largest coastal waterway.  The harbor is blessed with natural geography that includes the rolling Camden hills encompassing the town and running right up to the bay, creating amazing views in all directions. This classic coastal Maine town has been attracting many affluent families for more than a century with its breathtaking mansions, charming B&B’s, and shady side streets. Built around the long and narrow harbor, the village is easy to explore on foot, with plenty of boutiques, galleries and restaurants all close by. Provisioning is also quite good, with a choice of upscale gourmet stores and a popular farmer’s market held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.  Just to the south, there are many other villages in the region worth visiting including Rockport, Rockland and Thomaston.  And, much like Mount Desert Island, one can find many world renowned shipyards and a network of skilled tradesmen.
