La Plage restaurant is part of the beautiful Tom Beach Hotel, overlooking the beach at the Baie de St. Jean. This restaurant is vibrantly decorated, and its most spectacular setting, rates as one of those places you just have to go... no excuses! Enjoy the fresh lobsters, grilled fish, and other classic island dishes for a crazy lunch or a romantic dinner on the sand. The hotel / restaurant management have also kindly offered to collect any professional yacht crews / guests directly from their yachts in Gustavia, and bring them to the restaurant for lunch / dinner.
Set in a sumptuous garden, lit up by torches at night, this sophisticated open air restaurant serves the most creative (and light!) French fusion cuisine. However, despite the calibre of the menu and cooking, le Tamarin has a much more casual and romantic atmosphere than its culinary peers. So make sure that Le Tamarin is already on your list of ‘musts’ when you're in St.Barth! Located on the road to Saline’s beach.
Located in La plage de Public, the bay just north of Gustavia's main harbour, Mayas has a lovely setting at the water’s edge and continues to be a favourite of many yachts. Mayas is a local institution and one of the first restaurants on the island. The atmosphere is chic, elegant, and comfortable and one can enjoy a delightful sunset cocktail, excellent food and great sunset views (with ‘Sunset drinks’ from 1600hrs). The menu includes fresh fish, grilled meats, Créole dishes, and exotic daily specials and traditional West Indian orange cake or coconut pie.
Nikki Beach internationally caters to the modern, jet setting and VIP clientele. Here in St Barth, they are located right on St.Jean beach and one can enjoy a meal with toes in the sand! Offerings range from French to Italian to Japanese including a large sushi menu and more… The whole style of the place is Indonesian simplicity... and after enjoying their delicious food and spectacular location, one can chill out on one of their 'private' double beds overlooking the beach! They open from 1100hrs daily, and have a shuttle service available.

We received a whole round of excellent recommendations for Karine, a young and friendly lady taxi driver. She is available 24/7 for any transfer, course or for an island tour in her smart 8 seater Hundai mini bus (with No 3 written on top). Karine is perfectly fluent in English and she is very eager to help with concierge services. She knows the best restaurants and spa, and will never hesitate to help. She can also organize several taxis for big group, or passengers with a lot of luggage.
Yankey is a very reliable and friendly taxi driver, for whom we received many excellent recommendations. Originally from Dominica, his first language is English, but as a long time St Barth resident, he is also fluent in French. He has a 9 seats Nissan bus and is available 24/7.

We received very good feedback for Yannis Marine. Young and friendly owner Yannis is a local, and his company offers a fleet of boats including Sunseeker 50’ and 58’ and Caiman 52. They also have a 31’ fishing boat fully equipped for fishing, and sailing boats rentals can also be organized upon request. The boats can also be rented with a licensed Captain, for anything from several hours to several days. Yannis Marine boats are also available for fast and comfortable runs to St Maarten airport with charter guests. Very flexible and reactive, the boats are available day and night.
Pilou is the highly friendly gentleman who created this watersports company 16 years ago and since then, he and his team have been building an ever increasing wide range of boats and watersports equipment for the use of guests visiting St.Barth. Their luxurious water taxi service between St.Barth and St.Maarten Juliana Airport aboard their 40’ Cigarette speedboat is particularly successful. They offer VIP service, including customs clearing, help with the luggage, and are available upon request, 24/7.
Located at La Pointe in the port of Gustavia on the starboard side when entering the harbor this high class boat rental centre came highly recommended. Christian is the owner, and Sebastian the manager, and they run a fleet of Contender’s ranging from 25’–35’ available for rent either as bareboats – ideal as guest tenders - or OceanMust can supply their own Captain for fishing trips, cruises to neighbouring islands and / or for fast and discreet airport connections. These vessels are kept and offered for rental in pristine condition.
Per and Alf are the Swedish gentlemen running this shipyard located in Public, NW of Gustavia. The shipyard, built in concrete, is equipped with a 55 ton crane, to lift boats for prop works etc, that can also transport boats - of up to 26 tons - back to their yard, where they can take on a variety of works including carpentry jobs of any size (including teak decking), fibreglass and paintworks; and mechanical engineering, including outboard motor servicing / repairs. They also have security lighting, power, compressed air and water and are Volvo sales and service agents.
Carib Waterplay is THE place for any windsurfing need. Jean Michel runs his business, ideally located on the beautiful beach of St Jean (next to La Plage restaurant) since 1983. As an excellent windsurfer himself, he keeps updated on all the latest technology and always offers a choice of high tech and brand new equipment for all levels, from beginners boards with a lot of buoyancy… to ‘sinkers’ for advanced clients. St Jean is the perfect spot for all levels, with a protected lagoon and nice waves behind the reef. They offer lessons for any lever and rentals from one hour to long term.
Since 1989, the Cave du Port Franc has been a favorite for wine lovers.

Working directly with selected French Domaines enables this company to offer some truly extraordinarily rare wines at attractive tax free prices. They can organize pretty much anything one can imagine, including food and beverage provisioning (fruits, vegetables, Grade 'A' Canadian beef, wines / spirits etc..), courier / shipping services, pre-arrival storage facilities, banking services, VIP security, and parts / product sourcing, as required.

One of the most popular and gorgeous natural harbours in the world. Berthing in Gustavia, requires dropping an anchor and going stern-to the quay wall. Before entering or manoeuvering within the port, all yachts must obtain 'express authorization' from the Port Captain's office (VHF Ch. 12 'Port de Gustavia'). Whilst they don't officially take reservations, yachts are well advised to fax / email them in advance of the dates they are planning to come, and the yachts dimensions.
JC Taxi has become - over the years - almost legendary! Rated as attentive, extremely reliable, friendly with an extensive local knowledge. 10 seater passenger vehicle, speaks good English, available 24 hrs a day, and also gives island tours. Can also be booked for one or several days.
Lovely family run hotel rated as being one of the very best value on the island. All the rooms have an amazing view of Petite Anse, a wonderful little cove with turquoise blue waters, where the only sound to be heard in this secluded place, is that of the surf. All the spacious rooms have been recently restored and offer all the comfort one could wish for, along with a nice terrace to have breakfast or meals in front of the ocean, with a fully equipped kitchen. Local owner Suger Greaux is a highly friendly gentleman and speaks good English.
Eden Rock evolved from an imaginatively sited house built more than fifty years ago by local adventurer Remy De Haenen, to become a few years later the first hotel on the island. Part of the prestigious ‘Relais et Chateaux’ group, this delightful resort is set on a rock, right above the water in the Baie de Saint-Jean on the edge of a perfect long white sandy beach. It also has two fine restaurants (one on the beach, and one on top of 'the rock' with a view)... that also came highly recommended (reservations requested).
