This national park and nature reserve is set in a group of islands some 10 miles south of Punta Salinas, Mallorca’s southern most point. This is an unspoilt and wild area, rich in natural beauty, fauna and flora.
Yachts wishing to visit have to obtain a permit from the National park administration office, ICONA, three to twenty days in advance. Only 50 yachts are allowed to visit at any one time; visiting permits last from 1 day in full season to 7 days in the off season. Some of the marinas along Mallorca’s southern and eastern shore will help visiting yacht obtain permits, by supplying the required forms and faxing the request to ICONA.
Alternatively, day trip boats ferry visitors around the islands, leaving from Colonia Sant Jordi and Porto Petro.
There is only one anchorage. Puerto de Cabrera, open to yachts staying overnight, where the use of national park moorings is compulsory and anchoring strictly forbidden.
Diving permits are also available from ICONA, for those wishing to do some underwater exploration. Sailing and anchoring in the many bays around the islands is highly regulated, as well as visits ashore which have to be arranged with the park rangers.
