Boston, the cradle of American independence, is a modern metropolis and the cultural and business capital of New England. This vibrant city is filled with history and culture and mixes “Old World” charm and cosmopolitan sophistication like no other place in America. It is home of prestigious universities, world-class museums and theaters, excellent restaurants, sophisticated boutiques and galleries. For all these reason and more, it has become an increasingly popular destination for visiting yachts and several marinas are ideally located in the heart of downtown with its extensive choice of activities. Another great activity for outdoor lovers is to explore the lovely outer harbor islands by boat or kayak. Across the harbor is a major international airport that helps make Boston the perfect gateway to explore New England by boat. The coastal area between Boston and New Hampshire, defined as the ‘Boston North Shore’ is home of several picturesque seaports with a strong maritime history, such as the gorgeous Marblehead harbor or the elegant Newburyport.
