We know, we know… You loved our yearly printed guides, filled with updated info about your favorite cruising destinations and gorgeous photos from professional photographers. They were flying off the shelves in marinas, boatyards and marine outlets, all over the harbors we covered. Many of you were even collecting them, summer after summer. And it is true that, since the launch of the Yacht Insider’s Guide publication in 2009, whether it was for the French Med, the Balearics Islands or New England, the focus has been on our printed guides.

2013 is a year to celebrate in Marseille, as it has been awarded the European Capital of Culture. Since it was announced, a lot of energy has been used to transform and improve the antique city into a world-class tourist destination. First class hotels, charming B&B’s, eclectic restaurants and bars have opened or have been renovated. Over 400 exhibitions and events are going to take place in the city and the area throughout the year. Boasting 2600 years of history, Marseille is the oldest and second largest city in France and a fascinating cosmopolitan town. Here life revolves around the colourful Vieux Port, lined with seafood restaurants, many of them serving Bouillabaisse, the delightful local fish dish specialty, cafés and surrounded by lively broad boulevards and pedestrian streets. The East and West parts of Marseille, with their tiny coves, translucent water and charming neighborhoods, have a small village feel and are well worth a visit. It is also home of the spectacular Calanques, limestone crevices made of vertical drops and cliffs, considered as Mediterranean fjords. Marseille also makes the perfect starting point to discover nearby Provence, and world class ski resorts are just 2 hours away. Today Marseille has become a real destination on the Superyacht map with world renowned shipyards and a growing number of top-notch marine related services.
