The Bay of Toulon is one of the largest and most protected natural harbours in Europe. As a result, since the 17th century it has been a large military harbour, with a major French naval base. This is where Other Angle Yachting/DCNS have their state-of-the-art refit/repair facility. A large and busy city, Toulon hosts a large marina, and features an interesting historic centre located by the port, with pedestrian area, narrow streets, small squares and many fountains. Visitors will find numerous shops and restaurants and some hidden architectural treasures. To the east part of town is Le Mourillon, a small seaside neighborhood popular for its sheltered, sandy beaches. Another attraction is to go on top of Mount Faron to enjoy a spectacular view of the bay below. Across the harbour from the port of Toulon, are the quaint fishing towns of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer and La Seyne-sur-Mer, now home to several superyacht shipyards including IMS and service related businesses. Just like Marseille and La Ciotat, Toulon Bay has rapidly become a major destination for yachts maintenance and refit works. Last but not least, the region has excellent train and bus connections as well as ferry services to Corsica and Sardinia, and the Toulon international airport at neighboring Hyères.

Yacht Insider’s Guide Is Going Digital Only
June 19, 2022

We know, we know…   You loved our yearly printed guides, filled with updated info about your favorite cruising destinations and gorgeous photos from professional photographers.   They were flying off the shelves in marinas, boatyards and marine outlets, all over the harbors we covered.  Many of you were even collecting them, summer after summer.  And it is true that, since the launch of the Yacht Insider’s Guide publication in 2009, whether it was for the French Med, the Balearics Islands or New England, the focus has been on our printed guides.
