The wreckage of the Bayesian superyacht is now on dry land in Sicily after being lifted from the seabed and carried on a slow final journey from the spot where it sank in a storm last summer, killing seven passengers and crew.

The yacht, which belonged to the British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, has finally been recovered in a complex $30m (£22.2m) operation to allow Italian prosecutors to inspect the wreck as part of their ongoing investigation.

The owners, captains and crews of the spectacular array of yachts gathered for the 29th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma are making their final preparations ahead of the start of racing next Thursday.

With the regatta's new home base in the prestigious Club de Mar-Mallorca, the race crews aboard the 11 yachts entered are now able to size-up the competition in their respective classes — which have just been announced — at Europe's longest running superyacht festival of sail.
