Hughes Marine is the highly recommended mech.engineering service that has made St. Barth become a technical stop of choice for some yachts, who are choosing to stop there specifically for his expertise! Besides his engineering expertise, Hughes also has great knowledge of all the electrical related problems. Per and Alf are the Swedish gentlemen running this shipyard located in Public, NW of Gustavia. The shipyard, built in concrete, is equipped with a 55 ton crane, to lift boats for prop works etc, that can also transport boats - of up to 26 tons - back to their yard, where they can take on a variety of works including carpentry jobs of any size (including teak decking), fibreglass and paintworks; and mechanical engineering, including outboard motor servicing / repairs. They also have security lighting, power, compressed air and water and are Volvo sales and service agents.
