For those based in Palma, there are irregular guided tours of some of the old town Palazzio's patios (courtyards), normally off limits to the public. The tours generally take place at the beginning and the end of the summer season. Enquire at the tourist office.

Built on the site of an existing Mosque after the defeat of the Moors, the Cathedral dominates the sea front of Palma and is the central landmark of the harbour. Next door to the Cathedral, this Moorish Palace was originally built as a Citadel, and became the residence of Mallorcan Kings from the 14thC. It is still today the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain.
The main highlights are the separate Kings and Queens quarters, the Great Hall and St. Anne’s Chapel.

A week long classic yacht race, held every summer in mid August. The regattas involve classic, vintage and traditional yachts and boats, and start off from Club de Mar. The event is organised by the Royal Hispanic Vintage Boat Foundation.
Or to give it the correct Spanish title, Copa del Rey; The Kings Cup Regatta was first held in 1982, and has built up a reputation as a showcase event for top class racing teams. A week of racing and socializing is topped off with the gala prize giving dinner, usually attended by members of the Spanish Royal family. The Horus Superyacht Cup is a four day event; that attracts private mega sailing yachts to the bay of Palma for some superb day racing.
This is a unique event where social barriers are somehow blurred, as yacht owners and professional crew engage together in competitive sailing. This is also for many skippers and owners a unique opportunity to sail their own yacht to its full potential.
Probably one of, if not the main social event for yachties in Palma, during which yacht crews team up and compete against each other for this much coveted trophy. The annual event takes place at the end of October (dates for 2011 are 13th to 15th of October). It’s a lot of fun, and the closing dinner is the highlight of the yachting social calendar.

This supermarket situated close to Santa Catalina, owned and managed by the Corte Ingles department store, open 365 days a year from 8 am till 02 am. This is the place to provision on a Sunday.
Whilst the supermarket is not huge, the range of products available on its shelves is very substantial and of good quality; a selection of international food is also available, and many products of the Corte Ingles own brand (equivalent to UK Waitrose) are stocked.
There is only a very limited amount of fruit and veg available, but there is a good bakery/patisserie.

The Leatherworker specializes in wheel coverings, spreader tip protections, rigging work and much, much more. Located In a majestically restored building, Bar Cuba offers a great mixture of café, bar, restaurant and club. Nice laid back atmosphere on the ground floor, with a large street side terrace and an inside bar and restaurant; the downstairs area has more of a club feel, and is very popular late at night.

On the Plaza Drassana close to the Club Real Nautico, the Corner Bar is a favourite crew (or would be crew) hangout. This is where Captains seeking day-workers or permanent staff come to recruit on short notice. A well-known hangout to watch the football and rugby, not to mention killer pool night!
Run by talented ex yacht chef Simon, this Bar and Bistro is a big favorite with the expats and yachties and serves excellent food combined with a quality bistro menu, good prices and great atmosphere. Open day and night, as well as for breakfast, this is a good meeting place for all yacht crew. In Palma’s old town, close to the lively La Llonja nightlife area. Simon also offers an on request catering service.
