Few places in the world are ‘absolutely magical’… and yet Tendacayou is one of them! This guest house - located above Deshaies - is a unique and fabulous place, and guests from all around the world are coming to Guadeloupe just to enjoy it! The owners, Sylvie and Georges Clement, are the most welcoming hosts one could wish for, and their guest house - entirely built by Georges - is just amazing. They have 10 Brightly-coloured gingerbread cottages, most of them built in the trees! Each bungalow has a name, a distinct colour, and can accommodate anything from a romantic couple… to a whole bunch of 10 friends or a family.

The view from every bungalow is breathtaking, and all of them are very comfortable, equipped with a kitchen, a nice terrace with rocking sofas and hammocks. They are ‘green’ houses, with the energy being provided by solar panels, and the water coming from the nearby spring.

Most of the furniture is home made, using recycled materials in the most creative and tasteful way… like the sinks, made with half a ‘calabash’, and the lamps made with driftwood and pieces of metal. A lot of the fresh vegetables, spices and aromatic herbs they use in their delicious meals come from their 8000 sq m park. They even have a pool, located by the main house, with a lovely bridge crossing it to give access to the bungalows. This place is an absolute ‘must try’ for anyone looking for a quiet break away from everything, or a romantic “escapade”. Their rates are incredibly reasonable and it is advisable to book in advance, as they are very busy all year round, with tourists and locals. Best of all, their ‘table d’hotes’ is really one of the best restaurants in the whole Caribbean.
