Here is why Newport Charter Yacht Show is our favorite yachting event

July 3, 2024

Over the last decade, New England, known for its rich maritime heritage, has lured an increasing number of charter yachts to its shores.

The region, stretching from Maine to Connecticut, offers a choice of quaint seaside villages, picturesque harbors and first class marinas to yachts cruising along its coastline.

Each year at the end of June, a number of premium yachts gather in RI for the Newport Charter Yacht Show.

Held in the heart of downtown at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard (AKA, THE Shipyard), the renowned Show, now in its 36th Edition, lasts for three full days — just enough time to  visit each yacht in depth, get to know the crew, attend daily seminars and check out the exhibiting vendors’ booths.

This industry-only event provides the perfect opportunity for charter professionals to find out more about the charter yachts available in New England during the upcoming season.

Many yachts host scrumptious lunches onboard, so invited brokers get a feel for what the talented chefs are able to whisk up.

Newport Charter Yacht Show is also the perfect place for networking in a uniquely relaxed, friendly and yet elegant environment. The show organizes a whole array of fun and lively events for visitors to enjoy.

The prestigious Chef’s Competition allows chefs to showcase their skills and creativity. This year’s theme was Fine Dining, and the six participating chefs wowed  judges with outstanding presentations. Chef Kendra Castello from M/Y FREEDOM won the sought-after first place with a  “Deconstructed Pho Tower”. Chef Monja Jacobs from M/Y VIVACE captured second with “Scallops and Scapes”, followed by Chef Fernando Gomez from M/Y HOYA SAXA who offered his “European Sunchoke Gnocchi Surf & Turf with Artichoke Focaccia”.
.

The popular Tablescaping Challenge tasked interior crew to work with items already on the vessel to artistically decorate their dining tables.

Deliciously unique cocktails and mocktails were offered to guests to pick the winner of the Signature Cocktail Competition.

The Captain & Deck Challenge brought together groups of fun-loving yachties, who competed in front of supporting and exhilarated spectators .

Everyone’s favorite event of the Show has to be the Yacht Hop, where costumed yacht crew — usually following a special theme — go above and beyond to entertain guests with the most outstanding and fun parties onboard each yacht. Yacht hops are about showing off, with live bands, exquisite bite-sized appetizers, cocktails, fine wines and revelry.

A big thank you to Veronica Brown and her team for delivering another flawless Show.

Make sure not to miss the 2025 Edition - June 22-25!

See you there!
