Swimming/Beaches around La Ciotat

La Ciotat stretches along almost 20 km of coast line and offers a choice of sandy or pebble beaches as well as narrow creeks. Close to the shipyards are the famous Calanques of Mugel and Figuerolles, each one with a narrow sandy beach. On the other side of town, there is a long sandy beach, lined with hotels, restaurants and bars.

Biking Around La Ciotat

The whole region is a great place for road or mountain biking.

La Route des Crêtes: Quiet (especially off season) and steep scenic road of 15km long between La Ciotat and Cassis. A local favorite. Ride your bike directly from the shipyards towards the Vieux Port and then just follow the quiet road along the coast.

Bike District: Great bike shop located 94 Av de la Sarriette, offering sale, maintenance and repair of all types of bikes.

La Route des Crêtes

Must do: Whether you want to drive or bike, La Route des Crêtes, linking La Ciotat to Cassis is one of the most scenic roads on the coast. It provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole region.

Speedkart

Located close to the airport of Toulon-Hyères, about 30 km from the shipyards. Several tracks and more than 100 karts. One of the favourite attractions for crew in the shipyards. Open Wed to Sun, and daily during school vacation; 2pm- 7:30pm in winter; until midnight in summer.

Swimming/Beaches around Bay of Toulon

Located on the east side of Toulon, the Mourillon sandy beaches are a favourite year-round haunt for locals and visitors. They are lined with waterside bars and restaurants.

Plage des Sablettes is a popular and beautiful sandy beach ideal for swimming or chilling out. It is located in La Seyne-sur-Mer, facing the open sea and very close to IMS shipyard in St Mandrier. Several restaurants and bars are surrounding the beach.
