Saint Francois - on the southeast corner of Grande Terre - is Guadeloupe's only golf course. It is an 18 hole, par 71, international course designed by Robert Trent Jones and features massive bunkers and water traps. Tee times are 0730-1830hrs. The public course is fringed by a 790 acre lagoon which is home to windsurfers, water-skiers and sailing boats alike.

This very well established company, local Yamaha agent since 1976, has a good reputation among Superyachts. Their newly renovated showroom is located on the Jarry industrial estate, and is accessible by sea, from where they have a convenient ramp going to the shop. Soguamar offers full sales and service facilities for Yamaha products and also have a large choice of Jet Ski accessories.

With its turquoise blue and shallow water lagoons, located close to Marina Bas du Fort, Guadeloupe is a first class destination for kitesurfing. Michelle Baillot is a certified kitesurfing instructor and used to be one of the top 10 female international competitors. She used to teach in Dominican Republic and speaks perfect English and Spanish. She offers individual or group lessons from 3 hour sessions to several days’ packages and for any level. Friendly and flexible, she can even come to pick up her clients to the marina and take them to the best spots on the island.

With a well equipped workshop based out of Bas-du-Fort Marina, they work with numerous professionally crewed yachts, and thanks to their extended local knowledge and connections; offer a dedicated ‘one stop, technical shop’ to their customers. As authorized dealers for Yanmar, Kholer and Tohatsu, they can perform diagnosis and repair services on any engine or generator. They also sell parts, and can order anything not held in stock.

This very convenient service is located within the Marina Bas du Fort and is highly popular among sailors and crews in transit. They have several computers to use, equipped with webcam and Wi-Fi connections, and owner Jean Claude Lemoing can even help with any computer problem. They offer all office services, such as fax, mail boxes, photocopies… and are also Chronopost, FedEx and DHL agents. They sell very economical phone cards for long distance calls. In high season, they are open Monday to Friday non stop from 0800-2000 and from 0900-1800hrs on Saturdays.
Friendly, helpful, English speaking Andre Bervin of Le Pelican CyberCafe in Deshais, provides arriving yacht Captains with electronic clearance forms to complete on line at one of the shop’s computers. He also sells handmade crafts and jewelry and specializes in hammocks!

This company, run by the charismatic Winston Turney - who is half Barbadian and half Dominican - has a very good reputation. Winston is so competent in his trade that he is called all the way from St.Martin or Antigua when needed. He can deal with any brand of outboards - 2 or 4 strokes - and of any power. He also works on jet engines and jet skis. Passionate about his job, he keeps updated on new technology, attending factory training regularly. He can also sell and source any outboard engine parts, as required.
Bernard Vonesch who has over 27 years of mechanical engineering experience, came highly recommended by several Superyachts who used his services as an official Volvo agent. Having worked in the Volvo factory in France, Bernard explained that he deals with all Volvo engines up to 800cc. GMD is located next to General Mecanique Marine in the Marina Bas du Fort.

This Carrefour, located in the largest mall in the Lesser Antilles (in Baie Mahault, 15 minutes from the marina by car), is very crew friendly, and offers exceptional services. Here everything will be done to make the crews’ provisioning experience easier… they would open a specific cashier upon request for large provisioning, and deliver to the marina for free (with refrigerated trucks); they accept US dollars with no commission, and even accept mix payment Euros / Dollars. They accept American Express cards, and have a very competitive pricing commitment.
Les Abymes (10 minutes from Pointe a Pitre by car) Champion Supermarket Located within Marina Bas-du-Fort, this supermarket carries good stocks of a wide range of products for basic provisioning, and are open from 0800-1945 Mon-Sat; and from 0830-1215hrs on Sunday.
This full size hypermarket is ideally located only 2 minutes drive from the marina, in the direction of Gosier. Here, they have a wide choice of everything from fresh fruits and veggies, to a nice selection of fresh fish and meats, and during the Christmas and New Years holidays, the most amazing choice of high end products, including shell fish, foie gras and even caviar. All their products are first class, with most of them coming directly from France by air freight several times a week. A lot of local tasty fruits and vegetable are also available.

This lovely restaurant, beautifully located on the water at the entrance of Marina Bas du Fort (by the Club Nautique) is a local favourite. Run by the friendliest Vietnamese family including Anne Marie, Pin Pin and Loan; the setting is wonderful, with a nice covered terrace, plants, teak furniture and a flamboyant in the middle. They offer a large choice of Asian delights, especially Vietnamese. It really makes a great place to come and enjoy some nice authentic Asian food, with the sound of the surf in the background. They are closed Sundays and Mondays.
