Passionate about classic yachts, Jim owns a wooden International One Design that he restored and races. The carpentry shop is located within the Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard with a team of 15 full time highly qualified carpenters and painters. Their focus is mostly on interior work, although recently completed a major teak deck project on a 140ft yacht, removing the entire deck to install a new one, their fourth such deck.

The Island Explorer is a fantastic free bus system operating from the end of May to September. Links the island’s villages with stops in most marinas and the Acadia National Park hiking trails, carriage roads and island beaches. Environmentally friendly & air-conditioned bus, equipped with bike racks.
Transient moorings in Newport Harbor are on a first come first serve basis. Visiting boats can call Newport Harbormaster on VHF 16, to inquire about any availability, or contact the private companies below. Prearranged reservations are strongly advised in the summer.
