La Galleria

Conveniently located adjacent to the main Le Marin to Fort de France road, close to the airport, this is one of the largest shopping malls in the Caribbean and - be prepared - for this Mall is big enough to set you on a wild spree! There really is great shopping to be had in almost every department, and we heard how the Gallerie Lafayette - one of the most popular names in France – is just one amongst the myriad of fashion stores to be found here.

Habitation Clement

Set in Le Francois on the east coast, this is one of the most famous and most beautiful Plantation Homes in the Caribbean, transformed into a museum. The spectacular House of Masters, classified historic building, is open to the public and offers the unique opportunity to be immersed in the way of life of the growers of the 18th century and to discover architecture and Creole furniture from that era. The dwelling accommodates also an old rum distillery now turned into a museum explaining how the sugar cane is processed to produce rum.

Distillerie Depaz

We received some very good feedback for this rum distillery, as being a "must stop" venue. It is one of the oldest rum plantations on the island, established in the 17th century by the first governor of the island, once destroyed during a volcanic eruption and entirely rebuilt afterwards. Set in beautiful grounds and magnificent surroundings up at St.Pierre on the west coast - just a short taxi ride out of town, on the lower slopes of Mount Pelee - where one can enjoy a free glass of their local rum, after a 'self guided' tour ! Opening hours Mon-Sat 1000-1700hrs (1600hrs on Saturdays).

Fun Caraibes

This kitesurfing school is ideally located on the beach of the Cap Est Lagoon resort - in a beautiful lagoon of Le Francois, on the windward coast - offering perfect conditions for kitesurfers of all levels. Fun Caraibes is run by the friendly and English speaking Lionel Sauvaget, who started his school in 1999 and was the first one in Martinique. They have all the latest equipment including brand new ‘bow kite’ - the new wing technology with better safety. They offer classes from first time beginners to advanced riders with 3 clients max per session.

Eau de Tiare

Last season again, we received a whole round of recommendations for this wonderful beauty parlor - just 5 minutes away from Marin Marina, in the direction of St. Anne. Manager Kathy, who is originally from the Grenadines, and speaks English as her first language, has created a well being sanctuary that is very popular among Superyacht crews and guests alike. Here, you can indulge yourself in an atmosphere of sheer serenity, and the treatments include facials, body wraps, manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage and more!

La Tete a L'env Hair

This hairdresser, situated on the main road across from Le Marin Marina, (close to Ti Toques restaurant) is now very well established and a local and visitors favourite. Many crewmembers have used the services of Stephanie and Corinne, who run the place, and warmly recommended them. They specialize in ‘caucasian’ hair, speak a little English (enough to understand what one wants!) and are a lot of fun. Plus it’s quite trendy for Le Marin!

They carry the brands Sun Valley, Le Gall, Hawaian Tropics, Jenna de Rosnay, Nicole Olivier… and also have some nice Martinique souvenirs, post cards, discount phone cards etc. A ‘must stop’ while in the marina!

L'Atelier

After many years in St. Anne, this lovely natural shop is now in Le Marin, across from the Marina. They offer a wonderful selection of jewelry, candles, sarongs, lamps and many other local or Indonesian style gifts.
