Windsurfing/Kitesurfing/Paddle Boarding in Marseille

Marseille is often very windy, making it a world class destination for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Very close by are some mystic wave spots, like Carro or Brutal Beach. Another well known spot is Plage de Jai at Etang de Berre, a large fresh water pond located west of Marseille, close to the airport. There are also some good surfing spots. Diving in Marseille

 

Marseille is a major center for diving, including spectacular wreck diving and cliffs with red coral and caves.

Beuchat, located 7, Port de la Pointe Rouge, on the E side of Marseille is a dive shop with a PADI certified diving school. English speaking instructors, custom or group diving for all levels. Can also recharge Nitrox.

Aix en Provence

Elegant town, dating from the Roman times located 30 minutes’ drive from Marseille. Nicknamed the city of a thousand fountains, it used to be the capitol of Provence. Renowned for its distinguished and aristocratic charm, its 17th century mansions, numerous museums and historic monuments. A very popular music festival is held here every July.  Aix also has a choice of nice restaurants, stores and 2 cinemas showing films in original version.

As a big city, Marseille is home to a large variety of stores, many of them located in the old town, around the Vieux Port. Rue Paradis, perpendicular to la Canebiere, is the local ‘5th avenue’, featuring a wide selection of designer stores and other shops. Rue St Ferreol is the busy pedestrian street - parallel to rue Paradis . Major French clothing brands can be found here, along with many sandwich and fast food shops.

Antibes Squash et Fitness Club

This gym / fitness center is by far the most popular amongst yacht crews. With over 2000 sq m, they offer the full range of fitness classes, including Pilates, spinning and Yoga, with training in English! They have a good selection of weight machines, five squash courts and an outdoor swimming pool. They now have a brand new Powerplate space, with several new generation machines. Sandwiches, paninis, salads and drinks are available for takeaway every lunchtime from Mon-Fri. Very accommodating, they offer flexible membership packages.

La Grande Bastide

This 18 hole par 72 golf course is a Captain and guests favorite. Located above Antibes, it was designed by an assistant of Robert Trent Jones - Cabel Robinson - offering wide fairways and well protected greens in a pleasant natural surrounding. The clubhouse has a restaurant and bar; clubs can be rented and personal classes are available for all levels. Open daily.
